Welcome to the Anne Arundel County Mental Health Support Group
Foundation and Mission Statement
Our support group was founded in October 2000 by Don McClary. The group is led by those who fight, and are affected by mental illness. Since our beginnings, over a thousand people have attended our support group meetings.
The group welcomes all who wish to know more about the illness, and we think of our group as a family opened to all that care. Many attendees have developed relationships with others and participants have found that their friends and spouses gained greater insight into our world. We welcome all who desire to learn more about our illness.
We DO NOT provide therapy, treatment or medical advice, but we can relate our personal experiences and encourage participants to share also. The group is specifically for people who are actively engaged in the positive treatment of their illness by regularly receiving medical care and counseling and medication. There is no fee for this service but a suggested donation of $1 per meeting is appreciation to offset the costs of basic supplies.
